MY REVIEW:
I was so excited for this book, I read the first book in this series and read all the books in the Red Zone Rivals series (if you know you know) and I was so excited for this.
Grace is the sister of the MMC in book #1 Vince, she’s younger than him and a bit of a free spirit, she goes where the wind takes her.
Jax is Vince’s teammate and friends and knows that Grace is off limits but can’t seem to take his mind off her.
Grace just went through a break up and Jax is on break from hockey until the new season starts so they decide to take a road trip together, well Grace kind of makes him take a road trip with her to take her mind of her recent break up. Jax is all to happy to oblige.
I had really high hopes going into this book, because I really enjoy read books by this author and her previous series was amazing and book one in this series was pretty good too.
But lets just say I was disappointed in this book. I couldn’t understand why Grace was so insufferable and what Jax really saw in her.
She complained about people seeing her one way when all she did was reinforce their beliefs. Like she complained her family always saw her as the happy go lucky, nothing bothered her, jet setting person, which almost felt like they didn’t care. But instead of telling them or showing them that she keep pretending to be strong when she wasn’t. She was immature and childish. She just wasn’t it for me.

Jax is a Pro Hockey player and is a bit older and has some deep wounds because of his parents. He’s usually dealing with a lot when it comes to dealing with them. He has the pressure of Hockey and being the best especially because he’s getting older. He’s a functioning adult and Grace didn’t seem like she was so I did not understand the pull to her.
I usually do not mind reading age gap books and they’re usually really good but this one I felt the age difference and didn’t really care for it, after a while I was really just trying to finish the book. I feel like if Grace was a bit more mature this could have been an amazing book but it just wasn’t it for me.
I really enjoyed Jax’s character but I did not enjoy him with Grace, it felt almost forced to me and not like a natural relationship would develop. Grace kept forcing her hand with Jax and it just came off feeling desperate and childish.
I was over it before the end and I just skimmed the rest to finish the book. I’m really hoping the next book in this series is amazing (especially with who it’s about) because if it’s not I may be done with this author for now.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Kandi Steiner is an Amazon Top 5 bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.”
She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, planning her next adventure, or pole dancing (yes, you read that right). She enjoys live music, traveling, playing with her fur babies and soaking up the sweetness of life.
