MY REVIEW:
Ghost is a character that we have seen around, he helps Ben man the security desk.
But we don’t really know much about him, he kind of stays to himself and we don’t know what he does beyond the shadowlands.
Ghost is a retired vet now professor. I’m liking him already!
He’s careful, caring and helps those around him. I was happy to finally get his story and see what happened in his past. It seems like something steered him away from being a dominant and a sadist.
Oh Valerie! She’s really been put through the ringer! And I feel for her so much. She thought maybe she could spice up her marriage after all it feels like there’s always been something missing. But ugh when you have a husband like hers things go awry.
“And, of course, the first item on the effing list was effing fitness.
Fitness
Friends
Family
Finances
Fun
Two weeks ago, she’d added: Friskiness.”
She wanted to try BDSM but he just wanted an excuse to have other women. And that wasn’t at all what she wanted. So Valerie leaves the loser and decides to start a new life.
“The nice part of when sadists and masochists interact is no thanks are needed. We both enjoyed me beating on your ass.”
Valerie starts to get her life on track but is still missing something and she knows that has to do with BDSM. She happens to go the shadowlands for a trail night. And let me tell you the shadowlands is nothing like what it use to be.
There’s a manager there because Master Z has been away and all of the original Masters and mistresses have also been away. Things have changed and the atmosphere isn’t what it use to be. This made me sad, the shadowlands use to be such a place of pleasure and real connection and bows it’s just like one of those clubs anyone can go to.
But the original club members start to come back and see the disarray. And things need to be fixed asap. This makes things messy to say the least.
“No, I didn’t, did I?” Linda smirked. “Have you seen the way Ghost watches her? He likes her, and it’s our duty as submissives to give the Masters what they want.”
When things start to get right Ghost’s skeletons come out of the closet and thank goodness Valerie is there to help. Otherwise he would have just went back into his shell and let things lie.
“No, it’s not him. My children and ex are displeased.”
Queenie scowled. “Don’t let the past decide your future.”
And of course Ghost can’t leave her hanging when she has to deal with her own problems, he’s right there backing her up.
One thing I love and should have mentioned before since I’ve read the whole series is the way the shadowkittens stick up for one another. And always have each other’s backs. They stand up for each other and band together.

WOULD I RECOMMEND:
Yes! I would definitely recommend this book!
I loved Valerie and Ghost together! Valerie’s been through so much and Ghost helps her through. And I love how she decided she wasn’t going to let the past come back to haunt him when she knew the kind of man he is.
I love how they both help each other and stick up for each other. They make each other stronger for it.
This was also the story of an older couple. I love that no two characters are the same when it comes to Cherise Sinclair’ books. It makes each book feel like such a new experience.
I love anything she writes!
