MY REVIEW:
***I received an advance reader copy of this book from NetGalley. I am under no obligation to review the book. All opinions are my own. ***
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, I loved the first one in this series but did not like the second book at all.
Seraphina is on the Isle of Synne with her two younger sisters whom she has been protecting for years from their horrible father. Her sisters are of age now and she no longer needs to hide them but old habits are hard to break.
Seraphina married Iain when she was much younger and so in love, but she believed that he betrayed her for money because of said horrible father.
Iain has been working and making his way and fortune the best ways he knows how and happens into a dukedom that he never thought he would have. Then he finds out the wife he thought betrayed him and died is alive. He needs to secure a divorce before she can get her hands on his title and fortune.

Iain was under the same impression that Seraphina was, he thought she betrayed him for money, but he didn’t know the horrors she’s been through and the things she’s had to do to keep her and her sisters safe.
Iain starts to come around pretty quickly, he’s always loved Seraphina and falls back into those feelings pretty quick. But Seraphina wont let Iain in, she’s been so hurt that she doesn’t know how to let anyone in.
She has the same distance with her sisters and her friends who she loves so much, she can bring herself to tell them what she’s been through. So she ends up have a wall between her and the people she loves and she doesn’t really know how to break it down and just let people in.
This book was so much better than the last one in this series. I felt the pain that both Seraphina and Iain felt and the hurt because they were separated. Also they were so young when they were separated they didn’t know any better. And Seraphina’s father played on both of their insecurities.
Overall a great read, loved seeing these characters together and be so much more than I initially thought.
