MY REVIEW:
Ever time I start one of these books I’m like ok this can’t be as good or better than the ones that came before it right? And ever time I’m proven wrong.
It just gets better and better. I am always in awe of how well these books are and how fast I get through them. I always want more.
Now that Kelsey knows who her enemy is she will stop at nothing to get to him. Things have gotten a bit crazy since the last book. And Kelsey life is not as put together as it was before.
Things have changed and Marcus is no longer by her side. She also doesn’t have a connection with him like she use to so he can’t help her like he use to.
This hurt me a bit I really wanted Marcus to find his happily ever after, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be with Kelsey.
Kelsey has a new case and needs to get down to business and find out what the heck is going on with these halflings.
In trying to figure out this case things from the past are brought up and things take a turn that we were not expecting.
We finally learn about what happened to Neil all those years ago. Once and for all we get to find out and put that storyline to rest.
And Kelsey and Lee together, ugh it made me remember the fact that I was so sad when he died in the previous series. But the fact that he was able to come back and have a conversation with his daughter. *tears*
“Merlin has no idea what he did, what you could become. By allowing you to die and come back, he might have fulfilled the prophecy. He thought if he killed you then, it would end the threat. But your soul came back and… What fools we were.”
Merlin has to get it next but the King (Daniel) and Dev are so in awe of him it’s hard to do. He’s caused too much evil and right under their nose. They can’t see it because they are so infatuated with him.
“You’re right about that sword of yours,” Nemcox said. “The secret’s in the blood and the line. Blood will unlock blood and unleash the true strength of the sword, but only the strongest of the line will do. There’s a reason the vampires took the sword from their companions. They were afraid.”
Of course the companions have to save the day. I love the fact that again Lexi Blake lets the women have their shine. Showing that they are powerful and strong and always were.
Gray is off on his own mission and Kelsey is pretty much left alone, except for Trent. I’m not going to lie I didn’t really love adding Trent into the scenario with Kelsey and Gray.
“Love is the destination and it is also the journey. Being loved in return is merely winning the lottery.”
I thought it was a bit weird, but as time went on I understood why Trent was necessary. And how the triad would work better with him as a part of it.

WOULD I RECOMMEND:
Yes! This book was amazing and this series just keeps getting better and better. I always wait so long for these books to come out and then devour them within a few days.
I love how all of these books are connected and things from the previous books come back, it shows how they are all tied together.
This is one of those series that you have to read all the books before in order to understand the story line. It’s too in depth with many characters. The best thing to do is read from the beginning and maybe do a reread before the next one comes out.
