MY REVIEW:
This was the first book in this series but not the first book I’ve read by this author. I started with her Starlight Cove series (if you haven’t read it, what are you waiting for?). I was so ready to deep dive into all of her books.
The Havenbrook series starts with Willow & Finn, high school sweethearts that were torn apart by circumstance and life. Ever since Willow has kept a tight hold on her composure and feelings, not letting anyone in close because she knows what true heartbreak feels like.
Finn has been away from the hometown that always looked down on him, making a life for himself and his family. Which consists of his twin and mother. Him and his twin are inseparable so they pretty much do everything together. When Finn decided to leave Havenbrook his twin and mom were right by his side.
Now Finn is back to help an old friend open a bar in a once dry town, which Willow approved. Willow’s uptight father doesn’t really want this. Also surprise but he doesn’t like Finn. Anyways Finn sees Willow and all these feelings come back and that’s it he knows he needs Willow in his life no matter what.

Willow, as you can expect is extremely hesitant and doesn’t want anything to do with Finn, not after he broke her heart and never looked back.
We start to see Willow and Finn reconnect and remember all the things that they once loved about each other, but Finn’s departure the first time is still lingering in the background neither of them wanting to speak about it. Until it comes out and they have no choice to confront it.
I enjoyed this book but some parts were just way too long, like the extra long descriptions of almost everything. But I’m trying to understand that this is the first book in the series therefore more needs to be talked about to set up the whole series but there were points where I just had to put it down for a while. It didn’t hold my attention the way her previous books did.
I did love seeing Willow and Finn find their way back to each other but I feel like more could have been shown instead of said. There were a lot of inner musing and not enough conversation or flashbacks from the past.
Other than that this was a good read and a good set up for the series to come. I am going to read the next book in this series to see how it goes. Although I’m not so sure about the next sister Rory, I didn’t really love her in this book but we’ll see.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Award-winning USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love—writing. She likes her books how she likes her tea—steamy and satisfying—and adores strong-willed heroines and the protective heroes who fall head over heels for them. Brighton lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it’s mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible.
