MY REVIEW:

This book starts off with a bang and had me from the first moment. Reading Billie and Vaughn’s first scene together was epic. And I love how Billie always held her own.

Billie is a horse trainer that has tried to make a name for herself and has gotten away from her family and all the drama that they bring. She has made a name for herself but is trying to get the head trainer job at the Gold Rush Ranch so she can cement her career.

Vaughn is dealing with some scandal and the consequences of that scandal and is trying to get his family’s horse racing business back to where it was before. He needs a new trainer and someone who can really take them back to the top.

When Billie and Vaughn meet it’s a disaster, he thinks she’s someone else and she is super sassy so she can’t allow him to talk to her in any way, so she gives as good as she gets.

They immediately don’t hit it off, but Billie is the best person for the job and Vaughn needs her so he has to suck it up and hire her.

Since they are in a small town and mostly on the ranch where they both spend a lot of time, they are in super close proximity to one another and they start to try to ease the awkwardness between them and maybe have a better relationship.

This suddenly turns into more as they both become more than employer/employee. They connect on a level that they didn’t know they could and let me tell you sparks fly.

I absolutely loved how sassy Billie was, she didn’t take crap from anyone and she fought for what she believed in.

At first I thought she might have been a little annoying, but let me tell you that didn’t last very long at all.

Vaughn was a bit of a stick in the mud, who was so focused on the business that he didn’t really have anything else going on. But it makes sense because he was trying to save the business his grandparents started.

Billie helped loosen Vaughn up a bit and live life a bit more while still being passionate about the family business.

These two were perfect for each other from the back and forth to what each needed. I absolutely loved this book from Elsie Silver. I started with her Chestnut Spring series and this did not disappoint.’
