MINE TO HOLD | SHAYLA BLACK

MY REVIEW:

I was first introduced to Tyler in Delicious, he was the bodyguard of the heroine Alyssa.

I didn’t like Tyler at all in that book. He was extremely pushy and continuously causing trouble for the hero and heroine.

So after reading a couple more of Ms. Black’s book and seeing that this was the next book, I wasn’t that interested until I read the excerpt at the end of one of Shayla Black’s books.

Then I was completely hooked and couldn’t wait to read it.

It seems Tyler wasn’t always just a pushy jerk trying to cause problem,  but a man hurt.

Tyler has been in Louisiana for two years and basically making his way around the girls at the strip club, where he’s the bodyguard.

He’s a player and doesn’t look to be settling down anytime soon.

Delaney has had to deal with so much in the past two years since she’s seen Tyler.

She had to clean up the mess caused by her and Tyler, and she blames him even though he had no idea and she didn’t even ask for his help.

Now Delaney’s in trouble and has no one to turn to, so she turns to Tyler and hopes he will help her out so she can take care of her problems.

Delaney is being targeted and is trying to stay alive.

Tyler is a bit upset by happy to see Delaney, he hasn’t heard from her in so long and has missed her.

Tyler was Delaney’s ex-husband Eric’s best friend and partner. They were cops together in California.

Him and Delaney were friends before they ever slept together. So, now he’s on a mission to get Delaney back. But he has to convince Delaney to try to give them a chance.

“I will never want anyone more than I want you. I could do this all night with you and still want you the next day. Angel, please give us a chance”

He works hard to do anything that will make her stay with him, which means even seducing her if necessary.

The scenes are extremely steamy and they are also less about BDSM than the previous two book. This one is more about chemistry and the need between two people that really care about each other.

“Your making me crazy. I need you. I need to know that you’re safe. I need you naked now, with those pretty blue eyes all wide and dazed, your sweet thighs spread, and my name on your lips”

Delaney wants to believe Tyler, but she knows his record with women and his staying power is non existent.

She doesn’t want to get her hopes up and think that he might actually stay but he is making it really hard.

But Tyler doesn’t give her a chance, he fights for her with a single mindedness that eventually breaks her resolve.

“Del melted. If he kept touching her like this, how the hell would she ever disentangle herself from Tyler once the danger had passed? Having not just someone to lean on these last few days but a man she genuinely trusted  had been nothing short of a godsend. He’d taken so much off her shoulders and put them onto his own, for no other reason than to keep her safe and make her feel protected. How could she not appreciate that? Not fall for that?”

After reading this book I realized that Tyler wasn’t the jerk I first thought he was. And this just goes to show you, you can’t judge a character until you really get to know them.

WRAP UP:

Delaney’s past and present merge when she and Tyler are setup. But Tyler finds a way to save her while she gets the information she needs.

There was genuine bond between Tyler and Delaney that they were able to build more on.

I also loved the connection that they share and how great Tyler was with everything that was thrown at him.

Another thing I loved about this was Tyler’s need to show her that he was the perfect man for her and that no one would protect and love her the way he could.

WOULD I RECOMMEND:

I would definitely recommend this book! I loved the back and forth between the characters.

And the chemistry they had, but also the friendship that was built over time before they ever become intimate.

I felt the connection between the characters and I love the way they were written.

I also really loved the character development of both of them. Learning more about these character made me love them even more.
