MY REVIEW:

I have been waiting for Brody’s book for a while especially after we saw Brody and Stephanie together in Dominance Never Dies.

Brody is a mercenary and doesn’t believe he is good enough for anything besides fighting, taking bullets for his teammates and following orders.

So of course he doesn’t think he’s good enough for Stephanie.

Stephanie also doesn’t think much of herself, she’s made mistakes in the past and basically spends her life trying to make up for them.

But she feels like no matter what she does nothing will redeem her.

So I’m not going to lie both Stephanie and Brody annoyed me!  Brody at first thinking he wasn’t good enough and ignoring Stephanie not know what could be wrong with her.

And Stephanie afterwards seeming to have a death wish, like she was constantly punishing herself.

Brody finally gets it together but it seems like Stephanie can’t.

“You can’t fix someone. That’s not what love does. Love can make a person want to fix himself. That’s the key.” He frowned at his wife. “I said love. I want to vomit.”

The wise words of Ian Taggart, but of course he isn’t wrong, people have to want to change or fix themselves.

“But real love, honest deep-down love required something more than sacrifice. It required her to live, to believe, to have faith.”

As per usual Lexi Blake gives us love, characters in turmoil that need to forgive themselves, suspense and a bit of violence, which all makes for a great book.

WOULD I RECOMMEND:

Although both of these characters annoyed me this was a great book. Learning to forgive yourself for the mistakes you make isn’t easy.

But as along Lexi Blake’s characters are complex and capable of learning and changing and becoming better versions of themselves.

I would definitely recommend this book. Her books are always full of feelings and emotions that I can feel through the pages.
