MY REVIEW:
This is the second book in the Havenbrook series. This book is about Rory, Willow’s (book #1) sister.
Rory is coming out of a relationship where she’s been cheated on and pretty much left with nothing but her children. Her ex-husband not only cheated on her but brought the woman into the house that he shared with Rory and his children. A house that Rory basically remodeled by herself.
Now going into this book I wasn’t the biggest Rory fan she was insufferable and a goody two-shoes that ran back and told her dad everything. Snitching on her sisters instead of having their backs.
Getting into this book you start to see the real Rory and how she’s been playing a role that she thought she had to play all her life. She was the eldest and thought if she was perfect her dad would always love her. Which is the underlying theme in both of these books so far, both of these women are looking for recognition from their father.
Rory starts to realize that her whole life she’s done the right thing, did things the way they were suppose to and look how that turned out for her. So now she’s living for herself and her girl, which I loved seeing the real Rory.
Nash has had a crush on Rory for as long as he could remember. He is Rory’s youngest sister’s best friend so he’s been around Rory for almost his whole life and they live in the same small town. Now Nash’s father has a reputation for sleeping around and that’s followed Nash around but he’s determined to change that and show that he’s a serious business man now.
Nash and Rory have a chance to work together to created beautiful homes for the people of Havenbrook and this something they both need. Nash needs to prove himself to his father to take over the business and Rory needs to prove that she can accomplish something on her own.

The chemistry between these two is off the charts. They fit together so well and just work. Not to mention their businesses fit well together too which is how they ended up working together.
But again Rory starts to worry about what people will think when they see her and Nash together, so she keeps it a secret for a while. Nash doesn’t care because he is having all of his teenage dreams fulfilled by being with her. But he really likes her and wants to be more. So much so that he’s will to risk his relationship with his best friend.
Rory doesn’t have the best relationship with her sisters especially her youngest sister Natalie. She is trying to make up for that, with all of her sisters. Watching their relationships grown and be the sisterly relationship that they should have had was so good to see and healing for them all.
I loved seeing the change in Rory and how she started to not worry about what people were saying about her and living for her own happiness.
I so enjoyed watching Nash and Rory find their way to one another and let everything else go and just focus on each other. I ended up liking Rory so much more that I thought I would have. And Nash! I absolutely loved Nash and how he fit into her life with her children.
I really got attached to the characters and felt so bad for what each of them were dealing with. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of this series.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Award-winning USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brighton Walsh spent a decade as a professional photographer before taking her storytelling in a different direction and reconnecting with her first love—writing. She likes her books how she likes her tea—steamy and satisfying—and adores strong-willed heroines and the protective heroes who fall head over heels for them. Brighton lives in the Midwest with her real life hero of a husband, her two kids—both taller than her—and her dog who thinks she’s a queen. Her boy-filled house is the setting for dirty socks galore, frequent dance parties (okay, so it’s mostly her, by herself, while her children look on in horror), and more laughter than she thought possible.
