MY REVIEW: MAY HAVE SPOILERS
Luc first appeared as a character from Shayla Black’s Decadent.
To rewind a bit in Decadent Luc asks Alyssa to do him a favor and sleep with him and his cousin Deke, because he wanted to prove that Deke won’t do it because he is in love with Kimber (the heroine from Decadent)
In return, Luc promised to be her guest chef at her restaurant’s opening. She agrees after all she has been wanting Luc since she laid eyes on him.
Luc and Alyssa share a hot and steamy night no holds bar, that leaves Alyssa wanting more and Luc feeling guilty for his lack of self control.
After this Luc is desperate to avoid Alyssa as much as he can, he plans to stay away from her but can’t.
While trying to stay way from Alyssa and failing he starts to learn more and more about her and can’t help but start to like and respect the woman she is.
He starts to see that everything he originally thought of her were misconceptions. Which made me want to smack him over the head for judging her before he even knew anything about her.
He also makes his feelings to stay away from her pretty clear to her.
He makes assumptions and jumps to conclusion without even thinking twice about it because of Alyssa profession.
Luc shames her because of said profession but gets mad when anyone else says anything bad about her.
Alyssa is a ex stripper that is turning her life around and opening a new restaurant, so she can be more than just a stripper.
Alyssa has been hurt and betrayed by the people she should be able to trust and she’s found a way to pick herself up and make a better life for herself. She fights everyday to make a better life for herself and the women around her.
She’s a total boss! And she wants Luc so immensely that she plots and plans to get closer to him and hopes that maybe he would see the real her. The her she hasn’t shown anyone in a long time.
Alyssa holds her ground for a little bit and then lets Luc treat her like a doormat because she wants him so badly that she’s thinks being intimate with him will make him like her and fall for her.
It’s sometimes painful how to read some of the scenes, and I was happy when she finally booted him out although it took a lot to get her to that point.
“On the shadowy landing, Alyssa saw the intent in his glittering eyes a moment before he lowered his head. God, she wanted his kiss so badly. Muscle, bone, blood, all strained forward to join with him. Touch him. Give him anything he wanted.”
She has trouble trusting people and hopes that she can trust Luc and maybe even build something with her.
All the while someone keeps threatening Alyssa. She puts on a front like it doesn’t bother her, but its starting to get to her.
Then he starts to play games with her, he doesn’t want her but gets jealous when anyone else is looking at her or getting close to her. He can’t decide how he feels about her and what he wants from her.
“Feelings, Deke had suggested. And Luc had only a few days left to figure them out. Yesterday, she’d pulled away. He’d actually felt her putting distance between them. That reality had infused him with a vague panic he didn’t understand. After this week, he’d likely never see Alyssa again. How could he fit her into his life when she didn’t fit into the future he’d envisioned?”
At first it seemed like Luc was so desperate for Alyssa that he couldn’t wait to have her, afterwards he just seemed obsessed with her.
There was a lot of miscommunication that could have helped solve some of the issues that they had.
Alyssa knows that Luc has some assumptions about her and instead of setting him straight she continues to let him believe them, because she’s been so hurt in the past she doesn’t want any man to control her.
Finally Luc and Alyssa are thrown together by circumstances and everything seems like it’s going to work out.
Until….. Alyssa finds out that Luc still thinks the worst of her. And believes her to be lying.
She is furious and so done with it all, so she kicks him to the curb. Meanwhile Alyssa is still in danger and now all alone to deal with it.
There were so many people that I thought was after Alyssa, but I never suspected who it was until the end. And there was more than one person after her.

WRAP UP:
Luc really annoyed me when he kept making assumptions about Alyssa and had no facts to back them up. But he drew me in wanting to see if he would be an idiot throughout the whole book. Or if he would finally realize that maybe there was something he wasn’t understanding about Alyssa.
I admired Alyssa strength and heart, she was so much more soft hearted that she let people see. So many things bothered her but she wouldn’t show it. She had to be tough and resilient and show no weakness.
She did this so well that Luc thought he could say or do what he wanted and she wouldn’t feel it because nothing would bother her. Not realizing that she felt everything and was hurt.
I love the feelings and emotions this book incited. It nit only made me want to smack Luc from time to time but my heart broke for Alyssa and all that she had been through.
I loved the character development and how I got to know each character and what drove them and why they made the decisions they did.
No one had ever made Alyssa feel that wanted, and no one had ever made Luc lose control the way he had.
WOULD I RECOMMEND:
If you’re looking for a story with heartbreak, love, strong emotions and hot scenes then this is the book for you.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for deeper characters that have real emotions and flaws. Imperfect characters that find their way to each other and finally learn to trust and believe one another.
I gave this book 3.5 stars because of how Luc treated Alyssa in for a good portion of the book. And how Alyssa let Luc treat her. Although I really like this book, I can’t help hurt for Alyssa being treated the way she was by Luc.
