MY REVIEW:
So Victoria and Eli were both in can’t buy me love the previous book, but I didn’t really like these characters in that book. And I wasn’t too sure about them but I decided to give it a try and see. Victoria was Luc’s slightly younger half sister.
“I’d never make you ashamed of anything you felt for me. I’d never leave you alone and defenseless and scared.”
Victoria was a bit annoying and uppity in the previous book and in the beginning of this book. When we start to get a glimpse of the woman beneath the attitude, we see a hurt woman that has been disappointed by almost all the men in her life. Starting with her own father.
Then she marries a man that leaves her with no money to take care of herself and her son. She inherits the ranch and decides to turn it into a spa and finally do something for herself and not depend on men to help fix her situation.
Victoria gain some backbone and strength in this book and I really enjoyed seeing her change from the spoiled brat that she was into a strong independent woman.
“They want to experience something unpredictable, while being cared for. While being petted and stroked and made to feel beautiful and womanly.” He blinked.
“You’re … you’re talking about a spa, right?”
No! she wanted to scream. I’m talking about s*x! Wild, crazy s*x. With you!”
Eli was abandoned by his mother and raised by his mean father, he has worked the Crooked Creek ranch ever since he can remember. And all he wants is the land, but it goes to Victoria instead.
“Selling the herd was going to ruin Victoria. Without the income of the cattle she wouldn’t be able to pay the taxes on the land. She probably didn’t even know that.”
Eli is furious but also starts to learn somethings about himself and starts to let go some of the pain that he hold in. Until……
Victoria decides to hired Eli’s long lost mother. This was a bit of a hard pill to swallow because Victoria and Eli had gotten closer and this feels a bit like a betrayal.
But somehow they make it through and Victoria tries to help Eli heal from his past wounds while creating this beautiful spa.
“Christ, listen to me, I’ve never said so many words in a row in my life. You cracked me right down the middle. And I love you.”
There was also a bit of a backstory with Luc’s mom Celeste, her and Victoria have never been friends because of Victoria’s birth. So she’s a bit mean to her. Celeste is also feeling her age, even though she has a younger man that’s interested in her.
All of these characters have their flaws and past hurts that they are all trying to deal with.

WOULD I RECOMMEND:
Yes I would recommend this book. All in all it was a really healing book for a lot of the characters.
Victoria started to heal and see that she was worth more than what some man told her she was. And she started to become strong and stood up for herself.
Eli finally started to heal from his abandonment and issues with his father. He also learns to let go of past hurts.
And I really enjoyed Eli’s relationship with Victoria’s son Jacob. Jacob was a bit hungry for attention, because his father didn’t give him any or spending any time with him. It was really nice seeing Eli step up with Jacob.
Victoria and Eli are so good together once they let their guards down and let each other in. And they were combustible together, which is something that is so new to Victoria. Her husband neglected her needs and pretty much ignored her.
Celeste also learns to really like herself and she also learns to love herself. With this she learns to accept that other people may actually like her.
I really enjoyed this book and seeing a different side of Victoria. She really redeemed herself in this book.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Molly O’Keefe has always known she wanted to be a writer (except when she wanted to be a florist or a chef and the brief period of time when she considered being a cowgirl). And once she got her hands on some romances, she knew exactly what she wanted to write.
She published her first Harlequin romance at age 25 and hasn’t looked back. She loves exploring every character’s road towards happily ever after.
Originally from a small town outside of Chicago, she went to university in St. Louis where she met and fell in love with the editor of her school newspaper. They followed each other around the world for several years and finally got married and settled down in Toronto, Ontario. They welcomed their son into their family in 2006, and their daughter in 2008. When she’s not at the park or cleaning up the toy room, Molly is working hard on her next novel, trying to exercise, stalking Tina Fey on the internet and dreaming of the day she can finish a cup of coffee without interruption.
Dishing It Out, her last Harlequin Flipside won the Romantic Times Reviewers Choice award for best Flipside in 2005.
Her Superromance Baby Makes Three won the RT Reviewer’s Choice for best Superromance in 2006. L-length Her novella, “The Christmas Eve Promise” in The Night Before Christmas won the RITA in 2009. And her full length contemporary romance CRAZY THING CALLED LOVE won the RITA in 2013.
