MY REVIEW:
Violet Eaton is a jockey a Gold Rush Ranch and is trying to make a name for herself away from her own family. If you read the Chestnut Spring series you’ll know what I mean.
She’s quiet and mostly to herself but she’s been on the internet connecting with someone that she doesn’t really know.
Cole is a former soldier, that’s seen something and is coping with them. He’s no longer comfortable with himself, therefore he goes to the internet looking for woman.
He hasn’t spoken to his family so they don’t know how much he’s be wounded or how hard it’s been for him acclimating to civilian life.
Cole is grumpy to say the least and just an all around jerk sometimes. He doesn’t necessarily mean to be this way but its almost like he can’t control himself.
He wants to be close to people but he can’t let himself get close to anyone because of his past trauma and anxiety.
Then Violet and Cole are forced to live under the same roof and things start to heat up and Cole can’t keep up the grumpy personality that he usually has.

Violet is half in love with Cole when she has to live with him but he keeps pulling away every time they get close.
He runs very hot and cold and it was driving me crazy for a while. Like do you want her or not.
And Violet was so patient with him and kept giving him chance after chance.
I loved the angst and the push and pull between the characters, but I did get a bit tired of Cole continuously pulling away from Violet. While I do understand why he was hesitant, it was a lot to take.
Violet helped Cole be a lot less grumpy and helped him to open up a bit and even open up with his family and tell them the things he’s hidden for so long. He was craving a relationship with his brother but he didn’t know how to connect with him and I loved seeing them being able to connect.
Even though this was an age gap romance I did not find Violet childish or immature at any turn. I actually really enjoyed her as a character, she was shy but not a push over and went after what she wanted.
She broke out of her shell and I loved seeing it. This was another good addition to the series, I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Elsie Silver is a Canadian author of sassy, sexy, small town romance who loves a good book boyfriend and the strong heroines who bring them to their knees. She lives just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia with her husband, son, and three dogs and has been voraciously reading romance books since before she was probably supposed to.
She loves cooking and trying new foods, traveling, and spending time with her boys–especially outdoors. Elsie has also become a big fan of her quiet five am mornings, which is when most of her writing happens. It’s during this time that she can sip a cup of hot coffee and dream up a fictional world full of romantic stories to share with her readers.
