MY REVIEW:

I love returning to Papillion and all of the characters there. It feels like I’m going back to a place that makes me feel safe and comfortable. So of course I was so happy to read this book because it took me back to one of my favorite small towns.

Jayna use to live in Papillion when she was younger but her family wasn’t rich and they also didn’t have the best reputation, but Jayne was smart and wanted out of the small town she grew up in. She was almost obnoxious about it, which didn’t go over well with other people. But she was ambitious and wanted to get out and prove to the world that she could be more than her upbringing. She wanted to show the world how amazing and smart she was. And she did accomplish that until life smacked her around a bit.

She thought she had the perfect life, high powered lawyer in a prestigious law firm. Married to the son of the law firm owner. She thought she had everything she could wanted until her life was turned upside down. She had to go back to Papillion with no money, no husband and no prestigious job. She was broke and back home. Now she’s forced to take on cases that are nothing like what she use to do and even worse she has to go against her high school crush who’s also a lawyer.

Quaid has been in previous books in this series and I knew it was only a matter of time before we got his book. Quaid is a lawyer that has followed in the footsteps of his father, which means he’s the only lawyer for Papillion (until Jayna of course). He also has all the responsibilities to take care of his family and this is a tough burden to bear. So when he has a chance to get some help from the new lawyer in town he jumps at it.

I loved how Quaid and Jayne fit together and how Jayna started to realize that she had never had a relationship quite like the one she is having with Quaid, which of course scares the heck out of her. Quaid is ready for a relationship and honestly some help and he finds all of that in Jayna.

She’s capable, strong and tough as nails in the court room. I loved that she wouldn’t back down on the cases she had against Quaid even though she’s in a relationship with him. I also loved her relationship with her sister and all the things that went on there. I’m hoping for a book with her sister’s story.

And Quaid is sweet, caring and so down to earth. He’s not a snob nor does he care about anything but the quality of the people around him. I was so happy to finally see him meet his match and have his happily ever after. And of course I loved seeing what everyone in the town was up to.

This was another great add to this series and I continue to look forward to the other characters to come.
